  No. In my 30 - ish years as a born in jw I never 'reached out'. Never an elder or m.s. - I didnt even auxilliary pioneer once.

  Im not a fan of Garth Brooks or country music, so I dont know the song you are referring to, but thanks for dedicating it to me.

  FreetheMasons, I'm not sure if you are new here, or posting with a new account. With respect, you are simply paraphrasing selected bible passages that you believe to have some kind of meaning in 2024.

  This board is full of people that lived a majority of their lives as JW's and have heard all of this before. Since leaving the org, a lot of those same people have studied the Bible in great detail - including the inconvenient parts of the bible they don't talk about much at the meetings.

  All you seem to be saying is, ' the bible said it- that settles it'. That's not good enough if you want to be taken seriously.

  In other words, first you have evidence, then you have faith that is built on that evidence.
  It's not possible to build real faith without having the evidence first.

  Sorry , not true. JW's do not have any 'real faith'. They have believed many different things about the same topic during their history. The 'evidence' they had was based on whatever the latest watchtower said.

  Also, the very definition of faith requires no evidence. It is the exact opposite of fact.

  Faith- belief in something whether its true or not.

  Fact - something that is true, whether you believe it or not.

  There are no writings - biblical, or non-biblical that are contemporaneous, eyewitness accounts of Jesus. Everything we know about him was written decades later.

  If any of us was asked to write a story about some things we did with our friends 30 years ago, how accurate would it be? What if someone else wrote it for us after they had heard it from someone else?

  Yes, there are some positive statements and wisdom in the NT, just like there are in other ancient books. Looking at it critically, its not much to go on if you are going to base your entire beliefs and those of your children on it though.

  IF you REALLY think World War Three is about to start. It is time to get off this site, get that passport updated, buy and load up a sturdy well equipped sailboat, and then find a new home in the undeveloped southern hemisphere.

  As an Aussie, living in the southern hemisphere I find that mildly insulting. :)

  Half hearted JWs compared to past generations

  is it just me or has there been a massive change in jws of late?.

  when i grew up in the cult they had a real sense of urgency and would do an hour minimum, these days it’s not even ten mins before coffee break.. same goes for everything else, it’s half hearted .

  I agree with comments about not reporting the number anymore. That seems like a logical way to handle it.

  It leaves the problem about whether the 144000 has been filled to the imagination, without the GB having to continually quantify anything going forward.

  Over time, it will become an insignificant detail - if it isn't already, only remembered by a few oldies whose opinions don't count anymore.

  The GB changes a beloved, 'factual', 'bible-based', core doctrine and JW's will lap it all up.

  They are like magicians performing a magic trick and showing the audience how they did it and yet, the average JW is still fooled.

  Witnesses after Covid shut down are increasing their calls around my neighborhood

  hi all , i just had another call by a an elderly jw ,let's call him ian.. only about 3 months ago i had a young jw call and trying to talk to him i had to tone it down a bit because he did'nt seem so theocratically bright as he only offered a tract and not much else , and i've had others call since covid.. so it seems around here they are making regular calls but not like back in the day when i used to auxillary pioneer where we would go over this turf every 1 to 3 weeks in the 80's.. but back to my caller ian ,on his own , but out with a group of jw's he was quick to get around the pleasantries and and so i interrupted him tactfully to slow him down.

  started with a bit of my history easing into the fact that i had my first contact with jw's with my soon to be mother-in -law who was an invalided jw ,we had many good talks about her beliefs in the early 70's.. at this point he jumps in and wants to know if i would want a study again because i told him that i once did a study with jw's back.

  i carefully steered him into telling me about those days ,what was he was doing back then.
